911 Dispatch

copterEMS calls are handled by Athens County Emergency Communications.  Located in the basement of the Sheriff’s Office at 13 West Washington Street in Athens, our 9-1-1 Center is staffed 24 hours a day and is equipped to handle emergency calls for law enforcement, fire, emergency management, and emergency medical services.

If you need an ambulance, call 9-1-1.  Be prepared to give your location and specific information about what type of assistance (law enforcement, fire department, ambulance, etc.) is needed.

In many cases, the dispatcher will remain on the line with you until help arrives.  9-1-1 may provide specific information on first aid measures that can be initiated prior to EMS arrival.  Do not hang up until the 9-1-1 operator tells you to hang up.
